The Morning Roundup

The Morning Roundup 7/09/2012

Welcome back Monday. I know last week we were a little slow in the post-4th heat. But the weather has cooled down! The worst may be very well behind, and we’re back in action. Hopefully the deals have returned from their time off as well. Let’s take a look:

Must Buy: One of DC’s most recent food fads was the burger craze. Many places sprung up seemingly overnight. One of these that joined the fray was brgr:shack (4215 Fairfax Dr., Arlington) is one such place. Not to be confused with BGR or Shake Shack, today’s Google Offer is $3.50 for $7 toward their premium burgers. These premium burgers look tasty too. Sure you’re not saving that much, but you are getting a good deal on some premium toppings.

Must Buy: I’m a big fan of a prix fixe menu. I often am overwhelmed by choices, and restauranteurs generally know what’s best on the menu. This menus, however, can often be expensive. Today’s LivingSocial deal is anything but. $49 to Toscana Café (601 2nd St., NE) gets you a three course dinner for 2 with wine. WITH WINE. That’s a fantastic deal. Recently at the Rammy’s I ran into DC City Council member and potential mayoral candidate Tommy Wells. He recommended Toscana Café as one of his favorite local spots. Well now I have no excuse not to go.

Fifty-Fifty: You never want to say no to a Scoutmob. With no need to buy ahead the deals are often pretty good to awesome. Today’s Scoutmob to Laporta’s Restaurant and Bar (1600 Duke St., Alexandria) is close, but not quite there. The food is just a little too pricey with only a $19 max discount you’ll get almost one entree free. This is certainly better than no discount, so if you find yourself in Old Town at Laporta’s, go for it!

Those are all the deals fit to print this morning. Check back this afternoon as Evan heads to Eastern/Central Europe (or Shaw’s version of it at least).
