The Morning Roundup

The Morning Roundup 8/23/2012

Welcome to Thursday. We are now officially less than two weeks from football season. Can you feel it? Let’s get to it.

Must Buy:
Yesterday Groupon had a late deal that I want to tell you about. It’s very similar to a deal we ran a few months ago, so I’m going to mostly plagiarize myself. I’m a big fan of a prix fixe menu. I often am overwhelmed by choices, and restauranteurs generally know what’s best on the menu. This menus, however, can often be expensive. Today’s LivingSocial Groupon deal is anything but. $38 to Toscana Café (601 2nd St., NE) gets you a three course dinner for 2 or $78 for 4. (There’s no wine this time). But, it’s still a fantastic deal.  DC City Council member and potential mayoral candidate Tommy Wells recommends Toscana Café as one of his favorite local spots.

Fifty-Fifty: Today’s Scoutmob to Le Chat Noir (4907 Wisconsin Ave., NW) would probably be an Avoid if it was anyone but Scoutmob. It’s a shame too because it’s finally a deal in my neck of the woods. However, this place is pricey and with only a $15 max discount it’s one of those if you’re already going use it. This is definitely not a deal to go out of your way for.

Avoid: Mediocre and expensive is no way to go through life. Today’s Google Offer to Mad Rose Tavern is a nothing to see here, move along type deal.

Check back this afternoon as we get Evan to the Greek…Spot. Ugh, that’s terrible. Sorry everyone!
