The Morning Roundup

The Morning Roundup 10/16/2012

Finally a few good deals. They aren’t the best I’ve seen, but good enough for a Tuesday.

Must Buy: While Sette Osteria (1666 Connecticut Ave., NW) may not be the best place in the city for brunch, today’s Capitol Deal is great. $16 gets you an entree and bottomless Mimosas, Bellinis, or coffee (don’t choose coffee). I’m a fan of bottomless drinking in all it’s forms, so throw in some food and you’re going to have one happy camper. This is a solid deal for a lazy Sunday.

The Morning Roundup: 07/18/2012

A couple of really strange deals today, lets jump right in.

Must Buy:  Scoutmob is offering up a ‘Heavy Metal Brunch for two’ at Rock and Roll Hotel for $40.  Served from noon to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday, I wasn’t too sure about this deal until I read a bit deeper.  You each get a large entree (either bacon wrapped hot dogs or chicken and waffles), a ‘red rum’ frozen cocktail, and bottomless bloody mary’s and mimosas, all served on the locations rooftop porch.  So what makes this deal a must buy is that you can presumably arrive at noon, eat, and then day drink your pants off until 5pm for just $20 a person.

Friday Special: Drink The District @ Tonic

Yesterday, we took a gander at Tonic at Quigley’s new summer menu offerings.  But today it is Friday and to get you jonesing for that liquid fun, today we will take a brief look at some of Tonic’s signature cocktails.  Each one that was sampled will be given a rating in Bangs, either one, two or three Bangs will be awarded.  These Bangs are to be considered and measured against the Buck, whatever that entails… Here goes!

Peach Sangria: (Pinot Noir/ Creme de Cassis / St Germaine /lemon juice) Where does all that peach flavor come from?!?!?

The Morning Roundup 5/7/2012

We’re back from a lovely weekend and there are deals to be had. I’m hoping that this will be the week May turns the corner from pretty good deals to great deals. On to the Roundup!

Must Buy: We’ve shunned a few brunch deals in the past, which as a lover of brunch has made me sad. LivingSocial finally delivers the goods this morning with a fantastic $30 for $60 to Policy. This deal is good for two entrees, a seasonal bread basket, and bottomless Mimosas OR bottomless Bloody Marys. The drinks normally cost $18/each so basically this deal gets you brunch and free unlimited drinks.

The Morning Roundup 04/16/2012

Nothing too spectacular this morning, but there’s a couple of deals that may be worth your attention, and one you shouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole.  Here’s the roundup:

Fifty-Fifty: The Capitol Deal’s offer of $15.50 for an entree and unlimited mimosas or bloody marys at Ulah Bistro is real tempting.  Ulah Bistro serves up a delicious brunch – I recommend the Eggs Chesapeake – and is a great place to spend a Saturday morning/early afternoon.  That being said, this deal is only worth it for the drinks.
