The Morning Roundup 5/15/2012

Hello Tuesday. What terrible weather you’ve brought us. Luckily we have some deals to brighten your gloomy day.

Must Buy: $10 for $20 to Vince & Dominic’s Pizza (10474 Auto Park Avenue, Bethesda) from Google Offers screams Must Buy. The food here is good and cheap. You’re going to get a Large or Extra Large Pizza or two pasta dishes or two subs or a lot of other great combinations. It’s your standard pizza place, and everyone loves cheap pizza.

Must Buy: 50% off Artfully Chocolate and Fizz Bar is right up my alley.

Happy Monday everyone! Shake off the weekend and get back into it with us because we’ve got some deals for you. I was up at Sweetlife this weekend and you’re going to hear all about it later. We only really have one for you this morning, but luckily it’s one of the better deals we’ve featured recently. To the deal!

Must Buy: Is it any surprise that Scoutmob has  the best deal today? Their 50% off to Tagolio with it’s max discount of $25 is astounding. The food at Tagolio doesn’t break the bank as it is.

The Morning Roundup 04/20/2012

Happy Friday everyone. I wanted to take a quick second before I get to the deals to go on a quick tangent. I usually don’t participate in mourning celebrities. There’s always a million Facebook posts/tweets about Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, etc. but for the most part I never feel particularly moved by any of these tragic passings. Yesterday, however, was different. Mark Lavon Helm died at the age of 71. Better known as Levon, he was the drummer/singer for The Band. His death truly saddened me.

After a brief hiatus, I’m back on The Morning Roundup (I was out West, you’ll hear more about that later). And as if somehow the gods of the deal knew I was returning today, we’ve got some good ones for you:

Pi Truck DC: Going Crust Deep

Pizza is not easy. In fact, trying to break into the heavily saturated pizza market that is DC seems like some twisted form of sadomasochism. Pizza is everywhere in DC. Every neighborhood has their favorite spot, be it one of the Pizzeria Paradiso locations, Comet Ping Pong (named best pizza in DC by Food Magazine) way up Connecticut North, or one of the several places to pick up a ‘Jumbo Slice’ in Adams Morgan or the U Street corridor. All this variety and local favoritism would be daunting for any wannabe pizza pusher, but the folks over at Pi Truck DC are bringing something special.

A Sincere Thank You

At the end of our first day we wanted to offer a sincere thanks to all of you. The overwhelming amount of support we received today was truly humbling. It makes what we’re doing worth it. Someone that was recognized this morning that deserves another special thanks is Jordan Sheckman, who brought our vision to life. We have a fantastic home for this site and it’s only going to continue to grow.

We’re out celebrating at La Forchetta (more on that at a later date), but we couldn’t end our first day without giving thanks.
