On the corner of T and First Street NW in the Bloomingdale neighborhood sits Rustik Tavern, a tiny bar and restaurant that’s putting out some really delicious food. Brunch here is great, if a bit pricey: their frittatas are delicious and served in huge portions, with a side of fantastic roasted breakfast potatoes and a house-made biscuit. But the real star of the show at Rustic is their pizza, baked in the restaurant’s brick oven. And at happy hour, you can get a pizza for $3 off, making Rustik Tavern a fantastic dinner bargain.

Depending on how hungry you are, you can sometimes get away with splitting one pizza between two people, making Rustik’s happy hour an incredibly cheap dinner. Even with an entire pizza to yourself, you’ll only be spending between $6.50 and $9. Our advice: get the Christina pizza, a pizza topped with pears, goat cheese, prosciutto, and rosemary. As a pizza purist I never thought I’d say this, but it easily outshined their Margherita pizza. The Pep Pep pizza, with lamb, mozzarella, tomato sauce, and two kinds of peppers, also gets rave reviews, although I’ve yet to try it myself. Happy Hour is from 4-7, so head there straight from work and get yourself some delicious pizza at an incredible price!
