The Morning Roundup

The Morning Roundup 07/05/12

Hope everyone had a great 4th! We got one good and one bad deal for you this morning.

Must Buy: DC is a city known for its good Ethiopian. Scoutmob’s deal to Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant (2434 18th St., NW) is no exception. While maybe not the top spot, it is certainly worth checking out at a discounted price. With up to $15 off you’ll get yourself a good amount of food.

Avoid: There’s no good reason to buy today’s Google Offer for Bestolli’s Pizza. Only $3 off subpar pizza is as much of an avoid as you can get.

The Morning Roundup: 7/3/2012

Fifty-Fifty: $15 for $30 to Yves Bistro in Alexandria from LivingSocial is a classic lunch fifty-fifty.  While going in the evening will run you between $20 and $30 per entree, during lunch almost all of their menu items are under $10.  But the lunch menu is build with a good number of options from burgers and sandwiches to pastas and pizzas.  Again, a great lunch deal, when night begins to fall… steer clear.

Looks to me that all the other deal sites have decided to take the 3rd for the 4th.  I’ll be keeping my eyes open to see if anything pops up, but as it stands, its just the one.

But I have not eaten at ALL of the best restaurants in the city. As a college student for four of those years, that was a practical impossibility. But there have always been a few restaurants that have been on peoples’ must try list. Most of those I have crossed off. You have read about many of them here. But one that had eluded me, until today, was Adams Morgan’s Pasta Mia.

Happy Monday everyone. I hope that you survived the storm, and have power. The men of Eat the District are powerless, but that doesn’t stop the deals.

Must Buy: There are a lot of places that bill themselves as Modern Asian or Asian Fusion and a lot can’t pull it off. Many are pretty good and some are very good. Today’s Scoutmob falls somewhere in between pretty and very good. 50% off to Zabb Modern Asian (1836 18th St., NW) offers you up to $20. This will get you a really good amount of food for a low price.
