The Morning Roundup 1/16/2014

So we told we were back and what good tidings we bring. Today’s deal actually wasn’t from today, but I saw it before we brought the blog back and it was so good I was mad I couldn’t share it. But guess what today is your day. DC is a city well known for it’s Ethiopian food. Everyone has their favorite spot. Today we are featuring my favorite Ethiopian joint, Etete (1942 9th St., NW). Located on 9th St in between U and T, Etete makes a perfect anytime meal. Whether you’re checking a show out at the 9:30 Club or looking for a cool date spot or just enjoying a night out with friends you can’t go wrong with LivingSocial’s offer of $20 for $40.

Happy post-hangover Super Bowl Monday. The Ravens and I bet many of you are happy (I’m furious). I hope you stuffed your face with chicken wings. Yours truly was featured in this video. Only one real deal in the city today, and it’s okay.

Fifty-Fifty: My love for Recessions is well known. On a given Friday you have an above average chance (if you’re there before 10) of finding me there. However, I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to Recessions on the six other days of the week.

The Morning Roundup 1/25/2013

A 4-day week means that the weekend comes early! We made it everyone. It’s Friday. It’s still cold and it might snow. Cross your fingers. We got some deals for you to sample this weekend and they’re both good.

Must Buy: Another fine job from Scoutmob today. Virginia doesn’t allow deals on liquor so once again you’re out of luck on that front. But today you’re getting 50% off to Abi Azteca (3055 Columbia Pike, Arlington). With a max $15 discount that’s two entrees for the price of one.

Brrrr. That’s all I’ll say about this week. I hope you haven’t turned into a popsicle because that’s quite possible with the weather we got going. Sorry we weren’t around yesterday, we were caught up in a post-Inauguration haze. But we’re back and hopefully we got some deals for you (I wrote this intro before even checking the deals this morning, and like Kerouac I have no editor).

Must Buy: We’ve featured a very similar deal to today’s Google Offer to Flippin Pizza (1745 Connecticut Ave., NW) back in August.

Happy Inauguration weekend everyone. Whether you’re sticking around or heading out of town, a long weekend feels good. Hopefully you have some good eating lined up to go with your celebrating. Our deals today are a couple of meh options, but maybe that’s just me. Happy Friday!

Fifty-Fifty: Today’s Scoutmob is intriguing, but ultimately falls short on price. 50% off at Bilbo Baggins Global Restaurant and Pub (208 Queen St., Alexandria). With only $12 as the max discount, you’re going to burn through this deal quickly.

Well hello there. It’s another beautiful day in DC (sarcasm!). If it’s going to be cold and rainy in January, can we please just get a little colder and turn it into snow? Please? Somebody? It’s also the middle of the week so you’re halfway home. You can make it to the long weekend. To the deals!

Fifty-Fifty: I like today’s LivingSocial’s $15 for $30 to Bankok Bistro at Ballston (715 North Glebe Rd.), I do. It’s better than your average Thai deal. However, it’s not superb (you’re going to get two entrees and one appetizer) and if you live in DC you’re going to have to pay for metro or a cab or gas.

Welcome back from the weekend everyone. Hope you ate something tasty. We’re back in the swing of things, and to prove last week wasn’t a fluke we got more deals to get you eating this week.

Must Buy: The Capitol Deal back in action this week with a tasty kabob deal. $12.50 for $25 at Kabob Bazaar (two location, Bethesda and Arlington) is a really tasty offering. I’m a big fan of good kabob (I’m a sucker for lamb kabob) and Kabob Bazaar fits the bill here. Not much more to say on this, so pick your location and get to it.

We’re creeping toward the end of the week and this weekend is looking nice. Hopefully you’re healthy and will be able to enjoy it. I spoke too soon yesterday, but today I think is my day to return to health. We got one deal and it’s so-so, but check it out.

Fifty-Fifty: Shirlington has a lot of great spots. It’s a quaint area with a nice a movie theater and good dining. If you’re looking for a night out and you have to have a deal then today’s Scoutmob to Bungalow Sports Grill (2766 S Arlington Mill Dr., Arlington) could be right up your alley.

We’re halfway through and if you’re like me, you may now just be getting back to health. I don’t know what hit DC, but boy have I been sick. Finally feeling better, here are some deals that might make you feel a little better:

Must Buy: Glover Park is a pretty good dining area. There’s a lot of solid options and good deals to be had. Today’s Scoutmob for Bourbon (2348 Wisconsin Ave., NW) is just one such deal. Offering solid food and good drinks, this $15 discount (excluding happy hour) will get you on your way.

It’s good to be back! Here’s what we’ve got today.

Fifty-Fifty: Scoutmob’s $25 for $50 worth of Cuban food at Cubano’s is a pretty good deal.  The restaurant gets solid reviews from Yelpers and the Washington Post, and that $50 will cover dinner for two, although you’ll likely have to spend out of pocket to get drinks as well.  The downside? It’s up in Silver Spring, which isn’t the most appealing destination for most DC residents.  At only a 6 minute walk from the metro, though, this is still a viable option.
