The Morning Roundup

The Morning Roundup 8/2/2012

Happy Thursday. We’re one day from August 3, which is a pretty special day (it’s my birthday). So hopefully we’ll have some great deals tomorrow. Today? Well let’s take a look at today’s deals:

Must Buy: One of the hidden gems of Georgetown is Wisey’s (1440 Wisconsin Ave., NW). They make a pretty solid sandwich/salad at a decent price. So that makes today’s Scoutmob a no-brainer. Only a $5 max discount, but the prices are pretty reasonable. Try out a smootie or a shake while you’re there. Remember this deal isn’t for delivery, so you’ll have to head over there to get the savings.

Fifty-Fifty: Here’s the thing about food/drinks festivals: they’re almost never worth your money. You’ll have to wait in long lines, you won’t get your money’s worth, it’ll be hot, etc. Some are decidedly fun. That’s why I’m on the fence about the Chesapeake Beer and Crab Festival at the National Harbor. $45 gets you unlimited beer, 6 crabs, and a t-shirt. This deal will really hinge on how much beer you can get. The crabs and the t-shirt won’t come close to covering $45, but if you can get enough beer than it might be worth it. The beer list is decent, but doesn’t amaze. So bottom line if you want something fun to do this Saturday and you were going to go this is a must for the savings. If you think the idea of standing in line waiting for beer with a mass of people is unappealing, well then you might as well stay home.

That’s all the deals we got for today. Check back this afternoon as Steve gets some lunch.
