The Morning Roundup

The Morning Roundup 6/5/2012

Woke up to some lovely weather (this is June?) and some great deals. I’m really excited for some of these.

Must Buys: LivingSocial has a pair of deals that I’m a big fan of this morning. Both are event deals at their 918 F St home. The first is a beer tasting curated by local beer aficionado Greg Engert. $39 gets you a trip around the world and through time. You’ll learn (and drink) a lot. They also have some tasty appetizers on deck. The second event is just for me bro’s out there. A cooking class just for the guys.

The Morning Roundup 6/4/2012

Welcome back. I hope you had a fantastic weekend! Did you relax by the pool? Did you have a BBQ? I hope you had fun. We’re back with one deal this morning, but we like it a lot.

Must Buy: Scoutmob has a deal for you today to recently opened Columbia Heights eatery The Pinch (3548 14th St., NW). %50 off up to $12 will get you some tasty fare. The Pulled Duck Breast BBQ Sandwich sounds amazing, so you might want to try that out. Now don’t go on the weekend because this deal is only valid Sunday-Thursday. But you have to eat on those days to, so head over to Columbia Heights and enjoy something good.

Happy last day of May everyone! It’s almost Friday, you’re almost here weekend. More deals please.

Must Buy: The H Street Corridor is a burgeoning food destination. It’s got countless great options to get you going, whether it’s a pre-bar meal or just a nice meal with a date or some friends. One of those options is the Belgian gastropub Granville Moore’s (1238 H St NE). Google Offers has got you covered with a $15 for $30 deal. Now the food here is a bit pricey, so this may not get you two full meals depending on when you go.

Good morning. Hopefully the rain holds off today and the sun rears its head today. We got a few deals for you, one that’s extra sweet. To the deals!

Must Buy: I’m a big believer in pie. I think it’s one of the better desserts. I’ll be blasphemous and say that I prefer pie to most chocolate desserts (Evan is somewhere yelling and acting incredulous). So today’s Scoutmob to Pie Sisters (3423 M St., NW) is an easy must buy. With a max $5 discount you can get two of their signature “cuppies” or personal sized pies.

Georgetown Bagelry

Bagels. Everyone loves bagels. I’m pretty sure that’s a fact. I’ve written about bagels here on Eat the District before (in it’s older incarnation). Bagels Etc. used to be my weekend stumble out of the apartment go to. But I’ve gotten older, friends and I’ve moved north to Tenleytown. The options here are more limited, especially when it comes to bagels. The best option is a quick drive north to Bethesda. There you’re presented with two options: Bethesda Bagels and Georgetown Bagelry.

Chef Geoff’s (Tysons Corner)

This past weekend we welcomed GW’s class of 2012 (and Georgetown’s) to the ranks of the college graduates. With this time comes the traditional celebratory dinner. I was honored to attend the dinner of known eater Sarah Orton. The restaurant of choice, Chef Geoff’s in Tyson’s Corner. With outposts in Friendship Heights and downtown DC, the Tysons Corner location is a more subdued affair (though not in our room, things were certainly rowdy). The menu was hand selected by the graduate herself and boy did she make some good choices (all on the actual menu, so you too can recreate this meal).

Welcome back. You survived Monday, give yourself a pat on the back. The weather is looking pretty gross once again. The deals? A little better.

Must Buy: Scoutmob’s 50% at RedRocks Pizzeria (1036 Park Rd., NW) is a typical no brainer from Scoutmob. Good food, not overly expensive, and no committment to buy make the Columbia Heights spot a slam dunk. Good pizza with a good beer selection sounds like a recipe for a great night out. The food is a little pricey, and you’re only getting $12 off but we still say yeah to this one.

Welcome back to the week everyone. I hope you had a relaxing food filled weekend. Congrats to all the new GW and Georgetown grads. I know many of you may now be officially unemployed, but there’s good news, we have deals for you! Take advantage of these more than ever because it sure beats eating ramen everyday. On to the deals!

Must Buy: This may be the best deal we’ve ever featured. LivingSocial is offering $30 for $60 to Kushi (465 K Street NW). If you haven’t already bought it, stop reading and go do so.

Pork Barrel BBQ

Welcome back to our 2nd of a two part piece on Pork Barrel BBQ. Yesterday you read my interview with co-owner Bill Blackburn (what? you didn’t read it? go and do that NOW), today I’m going to talk about the food.

Let’s get this out of the way: the food at Pork Barrel is phenomenal. They turn out consistently moist and tender barbecue and everything I’ve had there is delicious. When eating barbecue I tend to favor beef barbecue, and so today I’m going to talk about two of their dishes that you may not know about due to your love of pork.

Hello Tuesday. What terrible weather you’ve brought us. Luckily we have some deals to brighten your gloomy day.

Must Buy: $10 for $20 to Vince & Dominic’s Pizza (10474 Auto Park Avenue, Bethesda) from Google Offers screams Must Buy. The food here is good and cheap.
