The Morning Roundup 1/14/2013

Welcome back from the weekend everyone. Hope you ate something tasty. We’re back in the swing of things, and to prove last week wasn’t a fluke we got more deals to get you eating this week.

Must Buy: The Capitol Deal back in action this week with a tasty kabob deal. $12.50 for $25 at Kabob Bazaar (two location, Bethesda and Arlington) is a really tasty offering. I’m a big fan of good kabob (I’m a sucker for lamb kabob) and Kabob Bazaar fits the bill here. Not much more to say on this, so pick your location and get to it.

Finally a few good deals. They aren’t the best I’ve seen, but good enough for a Tuesday.

Must Buy: While Sette Osteria (1666 Connecticut Ave., NW) may not be the best place in the city for brunch, today’s Capitol Deal is great. $16 gets you an entree and bottomless Mimosas, Bellinis, or coffee (don’t choose coffee). I’m a fan of bottomless drinking in all it’s forms, so throw in some food and you’re going to have one happy camper. This is a solid deal for a lazy Sunday.

Lot’s to see here on this Wednesday. We got quite a few deals of all different qualities.

Must Buy: We like pizza. We like beer. Today’s Capitol Deal gives us both. $12 gets you a personal pizza and two beers at Pizza No. 17 (1523 17th St., NW). Even if the pizza isn’t the best in the city (it’s pretty good), this deal is made on the two beers. You can use multiple vouchers at one time so grab your friends and head on over.

Must Buy: When we lived in Tenleytown for a while our go-to for trivia was Union Jack’s in Bethesda (4915 Saint Elmo Ave., Bethesda).

Happy Tuesday. For myself and my Jewish friends today isn’t a day to think about food. But I’m happy to share the deals with you despite my empty stomach.

Must Buy: Yes. Yes. Yes. We’ve spoken on the merits of Kushi (465 K St., NW) before, and today’s LivingSocial deal won’t disappoint. $25 will either get you a tasting menu for one (with sake) or $25 for $50 for the table. I recommend grabbing a few of these and heading down with some friends and making a night of it.

Fifty-Fifty: I’m not overwhelmed by today’s The Capitol Deal to Lavandou (3321 Connecticut Ave., NW).

The Morning Roundup 9/10/12

Well hello there Monday. After yesterday’s glorious weather/football day, doesn’t going back to the grind just seem unfair? I know. I feel your pain. RG III was everything you’d hoped for, and my beloved Patriots looked like they may have found some defense. I hope you’re ready we got a lot in store.

Must Buy: I’m a big fan of Mexican food. Tacos are now all the rage. So now here comes The Capitol Deal with a tasty deal for 2 entrees and 2 margaritas for $25. The spot? Capital Hill’s own Mi Vecindad (1129 Pennsylvania Ave., SE).

How is everyone doing? It’s September, you’re back at work after a (hopefully) nice and relaxing weekend. We get it you’re not doing well. You’re nursing a weekend long hangover and you’re cursing the fact that you’re back at work. We understand where you’re coming from. We’re right there with you. We wish we had better deals to brighten your day, but alas we don’t.

Fifty-Fifty: Today’s Scoutmob to Sixth Engine (438 Massachusetts Ave., NW) is one of the classic good restaurant, so-so bargain.

AND WE’RE BACK! After a week off, I’m back in action and ready to eat. You’ll hear all about my adventures in Iceland later this week. But first we want to get your week started off right with a few deals.

Must Buy: The Capitol Deal always intrigues me. They often have pretty interesting combination deals, and today is no different. Today they’re offering $22 for an entree and wine flight at Station 4 (1101 4th St., SW). This means three glasses (or tastes as is usually the case) and an entree for $22.

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I had a great birthday weekend, thanks for asking. Let’s get back into it. We have a few deals, but unfortunately they have some issues.

Must Buy: I love Chinese food. I especially love discounted good Chinese food. Today’s Google Offer of $15 for $30 at Fusion Grill definitely is discounted, and by the looks of it pretty good. You’re going to get a lot of food for your money here, which is what you want.

Fifty-Fifty: Today’s LivingSocial to Teak Wood (1323 14th St., NW) falls under the classic category of good restaurant, weak savings.

The Morning Roundup: 7/24/2012

Happy Tuesday folks, here goes nothing:

Must Buy: The Capitol Deal is coming in hot today with a big deal from Local 16.  This U street spot is hosting a pig roast with all you can drink Peroni… for $15. The evening will have live music and will go towards helping out Midcity Dog Days, a major U street festival coming in August, and Think Local First.  The kicker here is that it is only a one day event.  So get free’d up this Thursday July 26th, and from 5 to 8 PM, you can have unlimited drinking and a whole lot of pig.

A couple of really strange deals today, lets jump right in.

Must Buy:  Scoutmob is offering up a ‘Heavy Metal Brunch for two’ at Rock and Roll Hotel for $40.  Served from noon to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday, I wasn’t too sure about this deal until I read a bit deeper.  You each get a large entree (either bacon wrapped hot dogs or chicken and waffles), a ‘red rum’ frozen cocktail, and bottomless bloody mary’s and mimosas, all served on the locations rooftop porch.  So what makes this deal a must buy is that you can presumably arrive at noon, eat, and then day drink your pants off until 5pm for just $20 a person.
