The Morning Roundup: 6/7/2012

Only two for you today, and only one has some legs, here goes!

Fifty-Fifty:  Scoutmob’s 50% off up to $10 at Paciugo Gelato & Caffe is only barely a 50/50 and only due to it’s location.  Located a block or so from the Clarendon metro, I am sympathetic to those who are less willing to make the trip.  But if you want in, this is a nice date deal.  Scoutmob is gonna get you two yummy Gelatos for the price of one and this new gelateria has got the flavor hook up.  The one that looks most interesting to me is the Pannacotta but they change every day to keep you intrigued.

Not a good end to the week for deals.  Here’s today’s one big no-no.

Avoid:  Unless you’re eating at Oh Fish! once a week, there’s no reason to buy the Capitol Deal’s sushi punch card.  Avoid this gimmicky offer and spend that $5 on lunch somewhere else.

Well, that’s all we’ve got this week at Eat the District.  Have a great weekend, and we’ll see you on Monday!

Two great deals for you today!  Here they are:

Must-Buy:  If you’re in the Del Ray neighborhood, there’s no excuse for not taking advantage of Scoutmob’s deal at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub.  Whether you’re stopping by for a quick breakfast of coffee and a muffin or spending an hour sipping on cappuccino and listening to their live music, St. Elmo’s is worth the trip.

Must-Buy:  We’ll be talking more about Italian food later this afternoon, but The Capitol Deal’s $40 coupon for a three-course meal for two at Chef Tony’s is a great way to get a nice dinner for two at a reasonable price.

Happy hump day everyone! Hope you want deals because we got some for you.

Special Must Buy: Our friends over at Scoutmob have a pretty good non-food related deal that we wanted to share with you. This comes from their new Hand-picked line of deals. What they got for you is $25 for two tickets to their Pasties and Popcorn event. The event is down on H St. NE (my new favorite neighborhood) at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. It’s a burlesque show that features food from Stella’s Popkern (recently discussed here).

Today is the second day in a row with some pretty weak deals.  Im hoping that this means that we are in for some great offers on the back end of this week.  Here is today’s roundup.

Fifty-Fifty: Once again, Scoutmob’s saving grace is that its coupons require no advanced purchase or even printing.  If this weren’t the case, today’s $5 off at Los Hermanos would likely be an avoid.  This isn’t to say that the genuine Dominican food at this Columbia Heights grocery turned cafeteria style dining room isn’t great.

Slim pickings this morning, folks.  A couple of decent offers but nothing great, and a couple of definite avoids.  Here’s hoping the rest of the week looks better.

Fifty-Fifty: Today’s Scoutmob for Thai at Corner in Arlington is a pretty good deal if you’re looking for a quick dine-in lunch for one: you’ll end up with some fairly well-reviewed Thai food for only about $5.  If you’re looking for dinner for two, though, the deal’s value drops significantly, and nothing about Thai at Corner suggests it’s a location to go out of your way for.

After a brief hiatus, I’m back on The Morning Roundup (I was out West, you’ll hear more about that later). And as if somehow the gods of the deal knew I was returning today, we’ve got some good ones for you:

Must Buy: Capitol Deal’s $20 for $40 at The Cajun Experience features so many added perks it’s astounding. In addition to the money, it’s available for Sunday’s bottomless mimosa brunch AND if you go between Monday-Wednesday you get 50% off a bottle of wine.

Nothing too spectacular this morning, but there’s a couple of deals that may be worth your attention, and one you shouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole.  Here’s the roundup:

Fifty-Fifty: The Capitol Deal’s offer of $15.50 for an entree and unlimited mimosas or bloody marys at Ulah Bistro is real tempting.  Ulah Bistro serves up a delicious brunch – I recommend the Eggs Chesapeake – and is a great place to spend a Saturday morning/early afternoon.  That being said, this deal is only worth it for the drinks.

After a couple of days of lackluster food deals we’re back with the goods. Finally my inbox had something other than spa treatments and facial peels. Let’s see what we got:

Must Buy: $25 for $50 at Sou’wester courtesy of LivingSocial, sign me up instantly. Sou’wester is one of the better restaurants you’ll see on a deal site. Yearly ranked as one of the best restaurants in the city, it certainly lives up to expectations. I was slightly disappointed to see that this deal wasn’t available for Brunch (one of Sou’wester’s highlights), but nonetheless don’t hesitate to buy this one.

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a fantastic Easter and that you pigged out on candy and most importantly Peeps. I hope you all watched this because it’s my favorite thing ever. And now on to the deals (there weren’t a ton of food options today, but we’ll make do)!

Must Buy: Have I told you how much I love Scoutmob. It’s true. I think they have the best business model (no need to buy in advance) and often offer the best deals at better restaurants. I don’t how the back end works for the businesses, but for the customer it’s a great experience.
